3 Lessons from "Team of Rivals" 2 Minutes Book Review

Welcome to the Quick Summary of “Team of Rivals” Book. This Blog will quickly Enrich you with three lessons that I learned from the Brief Book consisting of 942 Pages. Team Of Rivals is a Best Selling Book on the topic of Political Leadership, and here is how it explains things.

In the 21st century, if the list of some of the most successful countries in the world is compiled, then the United States of America is the top among them. Still, if we read the history of this most successful country in the world, we see that it is dominated by civil war and chaos.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, this civil war was at its peak. North and South American people hated each other, and the practice of enslaving people was common. All the parties in the country used to attack each other verbally, but improving the country’s situation seemed impossible due to mutual hatred.

In these circumstances, a man named Abraham Lincoln decided to run for the presidency. Abraham Lincoln had previously lost several elections, including the Bar Council election, and his opponents considered him a frivolous opponent due to his repeated failures.

Despite the unfavorable conditions, Lincoln continued to work on his mission and focused all his attention on the anti-slavery campaign. Because of their efforts of Lincoln, people started showing confidence in Abraham Lincoln.

Elections were held in 1860, and Lincoln defeated all the candidates of the opposing parties to become the President of the United States. After this victory, Lincoln was expected to form a strong government with all his like-minded people and Politicalmates. Still, Lincoln, contrary to expectations, included his opponents in his cabinet and decided to fight together against all problems.

After that, history saw how Abraham Lincoln proved to be the most influential president of America. He ended all the country’s problems, including civil war and chaos and laid the foundation of a peaceful and better America.

Doris Kearns Goodwin has documented Abraham Lincoln’s politics in her book Team of Rivals. This book is given extraordinary importance in the United States, and former US President Barack Obama calls it his greatest inspiration for the presidency. According to the author of this book, three extraordinary lessons can be learned from the political life of Abraham Lincoln.

The first lesson is the inspirational struggle of Abraham Lincoln. Being away from education due to labor at a young age, having a personal life full of difficulties and continuous effort even after losing local elections definitely makes a person successful. The author says that all problematic life experiences benefit a person, and a person should not be afraid of failure.

The second lesson is about hard work. While Abraham Lincoln’s opponents were busy promoting themselves, Abraham Lincoln’s life had become a mission, and this mission made him successful in the presidential election.

The third lesson is surprising. Abraham Lincoln included his opponents in his cabinet and used all their energies for the national interest.

Due to this national government, the fighting between the North and the South began to slow down significantly, and on April 9, 1965, the Armistice was signed, and America became a peaceful country.
